Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge®
Live Your Star Wars Adventure
in a Galaxy Far, Far Away
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is set within the Star Wars universe, at the Black Spire Outpost village on the remote frontier planet of Batuu. Attractions include Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, a dark ride that places guests in a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance; and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, a flying simulator attraction that allows guests to pilot the Millennium Falcon through a customized secret mission on behalf of Hondo Ohnaka and Chewbacca. Restaurants and shops include Oga's Cantina, Savi's Workshop, and the Droid Depot. The land opened in 2019, replacing the park's Streets of America section. The 14-acre area cost an estimated $1 billion.
Located at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Galaxy's Edge is located in the southwest portion of the park. Disney's Hollywood Studios is a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida, near Orlando. It is owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company through its Parks, Experiences and Products division. Based on a concept by Marty Sklar, Randy Bright, and Michael Eisner, the park opened on May 1, 1989, as the Disney-MGM Studios, and was the third of four theme parks built at Walt Disney World. Spanning 135 acres, the park is dedicated to the imagined worlds from film, television, music, and theatre, drawing inspiration from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
The staging and environment is amazing, it really feels like you are in the places from the movies, it doesn’t feel plastic or like a set - It feels like a living, moving place.
Wandering around the Star Wars world was great fun, picking out all the small interactive parts of the environment. The build quality is amazing, definitely some great ideas for future Star Wars cinemas from our visit.
Even the queue for the rides features awesome work to help suck you into the Star Wars world and looking at all the technology, doors, walls and droids really helped take out the tiredness of any wait for the rides.
There are a few rides in Galaxy’s Edge, and they are pretty good. They wrap you up in the ambience of it all and it feels very Star Wars at all times. For us though it was the overall feel of being in Galaxys Edge that was great. If you aren’t a major Star Wars fan then it’s probably only a few hours to walk round for a look and go on the rides and it’s in Disneys Hollywood Studios so there are other non-Star Wars attractions. If you are a major Star Wars fan then you could probably spend the whole day wandering round, admiring and getting involved in it all.
There is a lot of interactivity at Galaxy’s Edge, Stormtroopers wander around telling you off, there are missions for kids to do - Robots to build, it’s obviously a lot of love that goes into it - even all the food sellers are dressed up and the restaurants and stands are all very Star Wars universe.
Definitely go if you are in Florida and in anyway a Star Wars fan, if you are a big Star Wars fan and haven’t been it will be an Amazing day but it is quite a small part of the Hollywood Land so probably a day or two tops for the adventure.
