Cinema Room in Container Building
Sketching up home cinema.
✅ Sketchup is the 3D design software we use to help us design amazing home cinema rooms.
✅ Using Sketchup allows us to make changes to colours, textures, sizes and layouts quickly and accurately.
We start off by modelling the room in 3D in Sketchup so that we can look at how different cinema designs work within this amazing container building. These Sketchup technical drawings can then be modelled with various materials and renders taken to get a photo realistic view.
We can see how bricks, metal, carpets, wood and acoustics give texture to the room. A simple button push and we can change the wall colours, carpet type or seating.
Lights can be drawn into the 3d model and rendered, this gives us a better idea of what the room will look like when in use.
This home cinema is within a building made out of shipping containers. Getting a right ‘fit’ was very important, the cinema and the surroundings had to fit into the building (both physically and aesthetically). Its a 3 seat cinema with a 120” acoustically transparent screen beamed onto via a 4K Projector, Paradigm Speakers are mounted behind the screen, behind the seats and in the ceiling for Dolby Atmos.
Acoustics are always an important part of home cinema projects, for this room we custom built a large wooden 3D diffuser for the rear of the room to break sound up and two different types of diffuser and absorbers for the side. The rear diffuser weighs over 120kg and is a 2x1 metre quadratic wood diffuser, it's big.
Diffusers help to break up the sound in a room and can help make the soundtrack sound awesome. The ceiling features a cloud of acoustic wedges to help control the sound.
Lighting and automation will be via Control4 with a Neeo remote, touchscreen and electric curtains. This cinema is in the final stages of being completed, once it’s finished we will upload pictures to show how it turned out.
